Application for Chatteris International Graduate Programme
To be eligible for the position of Chatteris English Tutor, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution.
- Be a native speaker of English or demonstrate native-speaker English competence (see explanation below).
- Provide a clean police report/criminal background check.
- Provide a medical certificate confirming your physical, psychological, and mental suitability to work with children and young people in Hong Kong.
Native-speaker English competence:
The Hong Kong Immigration Department requires all applicants from countries considered by the department to be non-native English speaking to provide documentary proof of their native-speaker English competence at C1 level or above, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Applicants must achieve a C1 level or above as an overall test grade and in the speaking section of the test. Below is a list of English proficiency tests accepted by the Hong Kong Immigration Department: EF SET Test, IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English Scale, and GSE (Global Scale of English). Please note that the EF SET Test is the only test available online completely free of charge, and you are allowed to take it once every 90 days. Furthermore, if you are submitting test results for an online test, you must also provide a signed declaration letter confirming that you have personally taken the test.
Please also note the following:
- Smoking is prohibited in all schools in Hong Kong, including in and around school grounds.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited in and around school grounds and at any external events involving students.
- All staff must adhere to the laws of Hong Kong.
- All documents submitted during the application process must be accurate. Providing false documents to employers in Hong Kong is a criminal offense.
